About the Book

The story of the Purple Papaya is about a little girl named Yvette, affectionately known as Yvee, who lives in the Virgin Islands. Her favorite fruit is the papaya. Yvee has learned everything she can about the health benefits of eating papayas.  As a result, she educates everyone she meets about this delicious tropical fruit.

One day, her classmate Doris mentions the purple papaya. To her surprise and dismay, Yvee realizes that she doesn’t know all there is to know about papayas after all. She becomes frantic and is determined to gather as much information as she can about this unique purple papaya.
